Para festejar el Día de la Tierra, Blum & Poe se complace en presentar la exposición colectiva en línea Mutter, Matter, Mother, que expone obras de Theodora Allen, March Avery, Mohamed Bourouissa, Sam Durant, Anya Gallaccio, Yukie Ishikawa, Mimi Lauter, Dave Muller, Solange Pessoa, Nobuo Sekine, Penny Slinger, artistas que imaginan un futuro ecofeminista expresado a través de materiales y preocupaciones temáticas en sus prácticas.

"Plantar semillas requiere un medio, suelo, materia, susurros, madre," escribe la pensadora ecofeminista Donna Haraway en su libro Staying with the Toruble: Making Kin the Chthulucene (2016). La exposición, que une obras de arte y citas seleccionadas de ese texto, construye relaciones globales entre especies para evocar un futuro floreciente. Esta es una narrativa especulativa y sus protagonistas son nuestros aliados no humanos, incluyendo plantas, piedras, y ríos. Manteniendo espacios abiertos para otros, conducen al camino de nuestra supervivencia colaborativa—una práctica de cuidado mutuo.

Mutter, Matter, Mother marca el sexto aniversario de la participación de la galería en la Asociación Arte Tierra (AEP por sus siglas en inglés), y Blum & Poe celebra los incentivos para convertirse en una de las primeras galerías de arte con certificación verde en Estados Unidos. La galería, comprometida con el facilitar la creación de arte más sostenible, también se convirtió recientemente en mimbro de la Coalición Climática de Galerías, un acto colaborativo para reducir la huella de carbono de la industria.

Como parte de esta exposición en línea, la obra de Dave Muller en 15 partes Bloom Spiel (2014) se instalará en Blum & Poe Los Angeles. Además, Muller ha creado una lista sonora que acompaña a la exposición y a la que se puede acceder en la galería a través de un código QR.

Para acompañar la exposición, la curadora Stephanie Cristello seleccionó citas del próximo monográfico Saturnine, escrito por Cristello y producido con motivo de la exposición del mismo nombre en Kunsthal Aarhus, Dinamarca, a la que se puede acceder en línea.
