Dave Muller

I Like Your Music

September 11 – December 4, 2004
Los Angeles

Opening reception: Saturday, October 23, 6–8pm
Hidden DJ Antics: November 6 and November 11 (bring records)

Blum & Poe is pleased to present I Like Your Music, an exhibition of new works by Dave Muller.

A great deal of Muller's work addresses issues of identity and portraiture. I Like Your Music presents the viewer with a mental landscape that reflects his ongoing dialogue with music. Combining drawings of various sizes both on paper and on the walls, Muller, an avid record collector, DJ and musician, creates a lyrical landscape for the eyes, ears and mind that reflects his love affair with pop culture and music history.

On Wednesday, November 6th, and Saturday, November 11th, he will be at the gallery DJ-ing in some capacity and has requested that visitors to the gallery bring records for him to spin on these days.

Dave Muller was the subject of a survey exhibition organized by The Center for Curatorial Studies Museum at Bard College in 2002 (traveled to the UCLA Hammer Museum in Los Angeles) and has had solo exhibitions at the St. Louis Museum of Art and currently at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. His installation piece entitled “That Hollywood Adage: be nice to the people on the way up because they are the same people on the way down,” was one of the hits of this year’s Whitney Biennial. This marks his fourth solo-show at Blum & Poe.
