COCON KARASUMA (京都)

Blum & Poe is pleased to participate in the first installation of COCON KARASUMA with a selection of work by seven artists. With small paintings of thick impasto, asymmetrical ceramic sculpture with cracked and fissured surfaces, saturated and lush pastels, and graphite-soaked works on paper, this showcase of work from Alma Allen, March Avery, Kazunori Hamana, Friedrich Kunath, Mimi Lauter, Tony Lewis, and Kenjirō Okazaki, focuses on the tactile experience of viewing art. 

In tandem with the co-current project Skwat Hertz, the exhibition series taking place at Cocon Karasuma in Kyoto creates a transdisciplinary space for art, music, and fashion.

Blum & Poeは、COCON KARASUMAを会場に当ギャラリー初となる京都での展覧会を開催いたします。アルマ・アレン、マーチ・エイブリー、浜名一憲、フリードリッヒ・クナス、ミミ・ローター、トニー・ルイス、岡﨑乾二郎といった総勢7人の作家が参加する本展では、分厚い絵具のインパストやテクスチャー、鮮やかでみずみずしい色彩を持ったパステル、焼き物の不均衡な形態やひび割れ、グラファイトの光沢感といった作品が持つ様々な素材との邂逅によって、観る者に視覚を通した触知的な鑑賞体験をもたらします。

会場となるCOCON KARASUMAは、会期中にわたって、本展と同時に、美術、音楽、ファッションについての複合的な空間を提供します。また「SKWAT HERTZ」も同会場の各スペースで展開されています。
