Lonnie Holley's I Snuck off the Slave Ship + Live Set

Thursday, July 7, 7:30pm and 9:30pm
at Brain Dead Studios 

Alongside his upcoming exhibition at Blum & Poe, Los Angeles, Brain Dead Studios and Blum & Poe present a screening of the short film I Snuck off the Slave Ship by Lonnie Holley, followed by a live set by the artist and his band. Holley choreographs an ecstatic Afrofuturist tone poem to his own music in an assemblage of his encounters with the slave ship “America” and a testament to imagination as resistance.

Lonnie Holley in Conversation with Jane Fonda

In celebration of What Have They Done with America?, Lonnie Holley’s first exhibition in Los Angeles, Blum & Poe is pleased to present a conversation with Holley and two-time Academy Award-winning actor, producer, author, and activist Jane Fonda. This event is free and open to all.

Limited parking available. Rideshare highly encouraged.

Masks are highly encouraged.

Record Pavilion Day:
A Day of Sonic Activations Arranged in Collaboration between Dave Muller and Mark “Frosty” McNeill of dublab

Saturday, July 30, 10am–6pm
at Blum & Poe, Los Angeles  

On the occasion of Gallery Weekend Los Angeles, Dave Muller's record pavilion will be open for sales, with in-store live sets and chats. The record pavilion is one of the three parts of Muller's upcoming exhibition Sunset, Sunrise (repeat) b/w The Record Pavilion, on view at Blum & Poe, Los Angeles. This event is free and open to all. Masks are highly encouraged. 

10 am–12 pm: dublab DJs will do a set with records pulled from the Record Pavilion bins

12–12:30 pm: Dave Muller

1–1:30 pm: dublab DJs will present a vinyl field recording constellation

3–3:30 pm: Joseph Hammer will perform tape-looping with songs from Muller’s paintings

5 pm: The Musical Tracing Ensemble will perform compositions from Muller’s paintings

Panel Discussion and Still Dance

at Blum & Poe, Los Angeles  

On the occasion of Gallery Weekend Los Angeles, and presented alongside the exhibition Three Landscapes: JB Blunk, Anna and Lawrence Halprin, Blum & Poe presents a still dance activation by Daria Halprin, followed by a panel discussion with Janice Ross and Daria Halprin, moderated by Laura Whitcomb. This event is free and open to all.
