In conjunction with Frieze Los Angeles, Theodora Allen gives a talk on the sources of her current work including the inward and outward gaze—the subconscious in contrast with the conscious mind. She expands upon the myth of Narcissus, the source of inspiration for her large triptych in the show, reframing this well known story as one of psychological self discovery and subsequent loss which begets a physical transmutation.
